Lincoln Band Travels to New York City

Erin Helland, Director of Bands for the Lincoln HS Band and her students recently embarked on a six-day adventure to New York City. The band was part of a commemoration ceremony honoring the lives of all lost during the events of September 11th, 2001.  The ceremony took place aboard the flight deck of the USS Intrepid, which is a carrier docked in the Hudson River.  It now serves as a military museum.  During the trip, band members were also able to experience the new 9-11 Memorial, the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Central Park, Times Square, as well as unique New York City areas, such as Harlem, Chinatown, and Little Italy.  They were also able to take in the Broadway musical “Wicked”.  The band would like to thank the community for supporting them in this venture and making this memorial trip possible.
